Wuling, jointly with other two major shareholders, won the bid of the national incremental electricity distribution pilot project for the Changsha High-tech Industrial Development Zone on April 15, 2019.
Thanks to an overall arrangement ahead of time, Wuling achieved several milestones in electricity marketing including the foregoing successful bidding. In late 2001, it set up a marketing department to adapt to the national power reform of separating power plant and grid business, and carried out concentrated marketing and all employee marketing. In March 2015, a new round of national power reform was launched, Wuling seized the momentum to develop electricity marketing and incremental electricity distribution business. It contracted with Hunan’s three major electricity users – each’s annual electricity consumption exceeding 1 TWh. Its 2018 gross electricity sales ranked first in Hunan, and the contracted electricity sales for 2019 reached 10 TWh.
As for electricity distribution, Wuling made early move and reached an incremental electricity distribution and comprehensive smart energy cooperation agreement with the Changsha Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone Management Committee in 2015, to take the initiative in electricity distribution. Through a long period of preparation and coordination, Wuling formed a consortium with the State Grid Hunan Electric Power Company Limited, and the Changsha Hi-tech Holding Group, as major shareholders, and jointly reached a consensus on key issues including region, voltage, and pricing. After the Consortium won the bid in April 2019, a new company is being established solely responsible for the incremental electricity distribution business in the Changsha Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone.
Winning the bid marked a breakthrough of Wuling’s marketing, and laid a foundation for its broadened comprehensive energy services, such as distributed energy resource, stored energy, and user maintenance.
